Hey there 👋
Meant to send this out Tuesday but for some reason it didn’t happen! Let’s get to the best links I found on the internet this week. If this was forwarded to you, check out some previous issues and subscribe for future updates.
Notes on Awareness
Ever since I first came across The Way to Love, I've been obsessed with Anthony de Mello. Awareness is definitely cut from the same cloth and goes deeper on a number of ideas that will be on my mind for a long time.
Frameworks v0.1
This list of frameworks from Chris Paik has a treasure trove of useful wisdom in it. I also really like the Google Docs approach as the comments generally added value instead of just distracting me.
Mindful Product Principles
In the latest issue of Wellness Wisdom, Patricia Mou lays out 15 product principles from Allen Zhang, founder of WeChat. I think we’ll see more and more lessons like these gain traction in the coming years.
Where Crypto Meets the Metaverse
“This piece aims to set out an overview of why crypto is integral to the emergence of an Open Metaverse. I begin this essay with a brief reflection on where we are on our journey as a digital species, as well as the role the games industry is playing in it. From there, we will touch on the origins of the concept of the Metaverse before exploring its more recent incarnation.”
Our Stack at a $10M Fund
I like posts like this that go behind-the-scenes in terms of tooling and process. I’m actually working on a similar interview series at Hugo right now. This just shows how much you can automate with a little time in Zapier.
The Coming Era of Tokenized Essays
Two posts on crypto in the same issue is a new record! I’m fascinated by John Palmer’s recent experiment crowdfunding his new essay. It makes sense that some model should exist between ads and subscriptions. Maybe this is it.
Data Visualization and the Modern Imagination
“The sections in this exhibition examine information graphics that show space, time, nature, and society. Many are beautiful. Each is a unique way of seeing still worth our attention.”
“The biggest thing separating people from their artistic ambitions is not a lack of talent. It’s the lack of a deadline. Give someone an enormous task, a supportive community, and a friendly-yet-firm due date, and miracles will happen.” — Chris Baty
Thanks for reading! As always, if you're enjoying Oversimplified, I'd love it if you shared it with a friend or two. If anything stood out, whether good or bad, I would love to hear about it. Reply to this email or tweet at me and let’s chat. 😁
Until next time,
Conor
