Conor's Newsletter: Issue 49
Data science resources, newsletters as a medium, and finding product-market fit
Hey there đđŒ
Let's get to links that I thought were worth sharing this week. As always, enjoy the newsletter and let me know what you think! If this was forwarded to you, check out some previous issues and subscribe for future updates.
đ What I Wrote
The Big List of Data Science Interview Resources
Originally on Github, I compiled a ton of useful resources that helped me prepare for data science interviews. All of these articles, videos, and advice helped me essentially teach myself data science.
No-Code and WYSIWYG: A Perfect Match
No-code makes it easier to do things. WYSIWYG makes it easier to see what you did. When you combine them, you get a streamlined workflow where you can create and iterate in rapid succession.
People Want to Help You
People want to help you. Give them an excuse to do so. Itâs hard asking for help. Whether itâs something big or small, itâs never been easy for me, but I think I found an exercise that helps out.
đ What I Read
Newsletters and Alternative Trade Routes
Newsletters are hot right now. I stay bullish on the medium of email, but itâs interesting to explore why it works and where things are going. My brain was racing with ideas after this post â Iâm excited to explore some of them.
How To Launch A Product
From TBH founders, âIt is critical to design a process that allows you to launch vastly different product experiences within specific communities so your product can reach critical mass.â This post from Brian Balfour decodes this quote and explains why product launches often hurt growth.
Finding the One Decision That Removes 100 Decisions
This post from Tim Ferriss is on-brand and closely follows the Pareto Principle, but is a solid reminder of an important concept.
Underutilized Fixed Assets
Kevin Kwokâs blog is a great source of insightful business analysis. In his latest, he tackles marketplaces and what needs to happen in order for them to work well.
đ„ What I Found Interesting
Finding Product-Market Fit
I made sure to bookmark this thread from Lenny Rachitsky with dozens of explanations and quotes around the mystical product-market fit.
Important Life Lessons
This thread has some gold in it. My personal favorite response? âPeople don't connect as many dots as you think. Everyone's brain works differently. Explain clearly and concisely.â
Remembering Kobe Bryant
Lastly, Kobe Bryant passed away this week. I thought Iâd share my favorite Kobe quote. Itâs a little less inspiring than all of the work-ethic stuff, but important nonetheless and something I think about pretty frequently.
đ€ Quote I'm Pondering
âIn performance training, first we learn to flow with whatever comes. Then we learn to use whatever comes to our advantage. Finally, we learn to be completely self-sufficient and create our own earthquakes, so our mental process feeds itself explosive inspirations without the need for outside stimulusâ â Josh Waitzkin
Thanks for reading! Iâll see you next week at the usual time. If youâre finding this newsletter valuable, please share it with your friends.
Until next time,
